Yandex launched Uzbek language support for its smart speakers with Yandex Station Alice. The task was to communicate this update in a clear and memorable way and show that the technology had become more relevant to the local audience. At the same time, it was important to connect a modern digital product with Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage. This led to a visual language where Yandex Station Alice soundwave transforms into Ikat patterns, bringing traditional ornament and modern technology together.

Problem

The launch of the Uzbek language in Yandex Station Alice was an important technological update, but the message “Now Speaks Uzbek” on its own could have remained just another product announcement. We needed to find a way to communicate it so that the technology would feel not just like a new feature, but something familiar and relatable through a recognizable cultural image.

Solution

We decided to combine modern technology with a recognizable cultural code of Uzbekistan. This led to the “Ikat Soundwave” idea: we transformed the Yandex Station Alice soundwave into a traditional Ikat pattern. The rhythm of the ornament naturally mirrored the shape of an audio wave, helping communicate the campaign’s main message — Yandex Station Alice now speaks Uzbek.
