Every journey carries a dream. It may be a driver working towards a better future for their family, a student preparing for a new chapter in life, or a woman dreaming of opening her own bakery. With every ride, that dream moves a little closer. But one unexpected moment can bring both the journey and the dream behind it to an end. In Kazakhstan, many drivers and passengers, including those travelling in the back seat, often do not see fastening a seatbelt as necessary or believe that a car accident is unlikely to happen to them. inDrive wanted to address this behaviour not through conventional road-safety warnings, but through something more personal and universal: the dreams every person carries with them.
Problem
The task was to create a film campaign that could make a familiar safety message feel personal, emotional and impossible to ignore. Seatbelt communication often relies on rules, statistics or fear. Buckle Up Your Dreams needed to take a different approach: instead of showing only what can happen in an accident, the campaign had to show what is at stake before it happens. The challenge was to reframe the seatbelt not simply as something that protects the body, but as something that protects a person’s future, ambitions and the life they are hoping to build.
Solution
Buckle Up Your Dreams is a three-film campaign built around one emotional idea: every ride carries a dream worth protecting. Each 30-second film introduces a different character through their own “museum of dreams” — a semi-real, dreamlike space where personal objects connected to their ambitions are displayed almost like museum exhibits. The characters share their stories and speak about what they hope to achieve. Nothing suggests that something is about to go wrong — until the dream world suddenly collapses into chaos and the objects around them shatter into pieces. At that moment, the films turn directly to the audience with a personal question: What is your dream? The stories then return to hope, showing the characters calmly fastening their seatbelts before closing with the campaign message: Buckle up. Buckle up your dreams. The script turns a basic safety instruction into an emotional choice. By focusing on dreams instead of danger, the campaign makes fastening a seatbelt feel less like following a rule — and more like protecting everything a person is moving towards.
Results
The campaign generated strong early audience attention across Kazakh and Russian versions of the films, reaching 15M+ YouTube views within the first weeks of launch. The three Kazakh-language films reached 5.2M, 5.5M and 3.7M views, while the Russian-language versions added 1.2M+ views in total. Beyond YouTube, the films reached 7.4M people through TV and cinema placements during the first five weeks of the campaign. The strength and social importance of the road-safety message also led to four national TV channels placing the films for free, with confirmation from the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan. Note: The campaign is still ongoing, with final business, PR and audience-response data still being consolidated.
