Uzpromstroybank (SQB) is Uzbekistan's largest bank and the sole banking asset held by the National Investment Fund of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In 2025, SQB successfully placed Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital bonds on the London Stock Exchange, strengthening its presence in international capital markets. One month after the National Investment Fund's roughly $700 million IPO on the London and Tashkent stock exchanges - a listing that demonstrated strong global investor appetite for Uzbek assets - SQB needed a platform that could convert one-off transactions into structured, long-term relationships with international financial institutions.
Problem
SQB works with leading global banks and development institutions - EBRD, IFC, the Asian Development Bank, J.P. Morgan, Citibank, Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank, AKA Bank and others - but these relationships had largely been built deal by deal. The bank had no single public platform where it could present its financial results directly to senior decision-makers at these institutions, reinforce its standing as a reliable long-term partner, and secure open, publicly quotable investor feedback - a gap made more pressing by SQB's own plans for a future international listing.
Solution
As part of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, SQB organized its own flagship event - “SQB Investor Day” - at the bank's headquarters. The format combined three layers of communication: (1) a public presentation of SQB's 2025 financial results to an audience of roughly 300 representatives from international financial institutions, investment funds, consulting firms, the public and private sectors, and major corporate clients; (2) bilateral meetings between SQB's leadership and senior executives of EBRD, IFC, the Asian Development Bank, J.P. Morgan, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, AKA Bank and others, focused on financing pipelines, trade operations and capital-markets opportunities; (3) a dedicated awards ceremony in which SQB publicly recognized ten international partners - from EBRD to Commerzbank - in specific cooperation categories. This turned a routine B2B gathering into a genuine PR moment and gave each investor a tailored, newsworthy reason to speak publicly on the record.
Results
The event brought together around 300 representatives of international financial institutions, investment funds, consulting companies, and the public and private sectors. SQB's leadership held bilateral meetings with the heads of EBRD, IFC, the Asian Development Bank, J.P. Morgan, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank, AKA Bank and other institutions. Ten international partners received named SQB awards for their contribution to the partnership. The event generated on-the-record, quotable endorsements from senior investment leaders — including the Managing Director for Central Asia at Templeton Global Investments, the EBRD's Managing Director for Financial Institutions, the CEO of Standard Chartered UK, and the Chairman of AKA Bank — who directly tied SQB's progress to the broader growth of investor confidence in Uzbek assets, including the National Investment Fund's recent $700 million IPO. The event received editorial coverage in Uzbekistan's business media.
