Large festivals and cultural events require temporary structures and significant amounts of materials to build their infrastructure. Once an event ends, these structures are dismantled and the materials used for them often have no further purpose.

For Ipak Yuli Bank, participation in major cultural events is not only an opportunity to engage with audiences, but also an opportunity to explore more conscious ways of using resources.

Problem

After the festival, temporary structures are dismantled and the materials used to build them can become waste. In our case, 470 metres of fabric used for the event tents were left after the event.

At the same time, the fabric was still in good condition and could be reused.

The task was to prevent the material from becoming waste, extend its lifecycle and find a new practical purpose for it.

Solution

Instead of sending the used material for disposal, we decided to give it a new life. After the tents were dismantled, 470 metres of fabric were collected, cleaned and prepared for reuse.

Together with designer Legkoe Retro, we transformed the fabric into an 8-look capsule collection presented at Visa Fashion Week Tashkent.

But its second life did not end on the runway. The remaining material was also turned into 300 children’s sun hats and 300 waterproof tote bags for parents.

In this way, the same material found several new purposes while continuing to serve its original function — to protect.

Results

As a result, 470 metres of fabric were given a second life instead of becoming waste after the festival.

The material was transformed into:

8 looks for a capsule collection presented at Visa Fashion Week Tashkent;
300 children’s sun hats;
300 waterproof tote bags for parents.
The material, originally used for just a few days at the festival, was given a second life through fashion and everyday use.
